Prayer Requests
New feature – please use this page for prayer requests. Strength in numbers is key. Place your prayers in the comments box below and they will be read by the entire readership. Feel free to share your story and a little of background if you’d like. Short or long, a prayer request can go a long way…

I will kick this off. I would like to send out a special prayer to both Stacey and Marc in LA and Robin and his daughter Shelly down in TX. Marc is going through Avastin treatment but just a few days ago fell and broke several ribs and has a chest contusion. Let’s all pray that he’s doing well and he is recovering.
Robin’s daughter Shelly just went through her 3rd surgery for a grade 3/4 glioma. She couldn’t walk, write, etc but is slowly doing better. As you know if you’ve been through this, it’s hard!
Praying is the only thing we as survivors can do for each other along with caring, providing hope and strength for each other. Being an example for one another that life isn’t over when you are diagnosed is key. The rest, at least for me, is guidance from above – when I see a fork in the road and one is A and one is B, I’m guided and that’s it.
Stay in Today.
God bless,
Mark
What a powerful addition to your site, Mark. God bless you.
Today, Tuesday, July 28, Shelly is having her first radiation treatment. We’re grateful for everybody’s prayers, and grateful for a forum like this where we can “bear one another’s burdens” as the scriptures teach us. God bless you!
Hi Mark + All the Readers,
First of, I’d like to thank Mark for putting this on his blog. I’ve been reading his blog since last year, and have periodically been checking it ever since. It has been a testament of strength and courage in me, seeing how Mark responds with life challenges with faith and perseverance.
I’d like to put in a prayer request for my Dad (Mr. Pak) He’s been a long-time brain cancer survivor (19 years) and thus far, we have been blessed.
Unfortunately, this April, he hit his head on the sidewalk while having a seizure. After being misdiagnosed at the hospital, our family realized something was wrong and took him in for more tests. It was found that he had severe hydrocephalus (resulting from the seizure and previous brain surgeries). He has had 2 shunt replacement surgeries done so far.
While we still have hope, he has been getting worse and worse since his last surgery in June. He has not been able to put down fluids or eat properly, has lost approximately 30 lbs in weight, and his cognition has been significantly reduced (to the point where he cannot utter simple responses). We are not sure if this is due to his brain acquiring too much damage, or whether or not his tumor has finally progressed to a Grade IV.
My prayer request is for God to show his healing power by helping him possibly recover. My other prayer request is to give strength and faith to my family (Mom, Younger Brother, and Myself). My Dad was diagnosed in 1990 and since then, its been a roller-coaster of emotions (he had 6 brain surgeries to remove an almost always recurring tumor). For myself, it has certainly been a test of faith every year, but lately its been quite difficult, seeing how rapidly he has deteriorated.
Many Thanks,
God Bless,
David.
Praying for you today, Mark. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I have a meningioma that has been partially resected. I also had proton radiation last year. The most recent MRI showed no change in the tumor, which is good. But there were other problems noted in the report. I go today to see my neurologist, who hopefully can explain what is or isn’t going on. Prayers will be appreciated.
You have a great blog! I will put a link to it on mine.
My prayer request is for my husband Ron, whois having a PET scan August 26th. His cancer has been in remission, this is a recheck. Thank you and God bless you.
Consistent with my post on 10/20/09, I’d like send out a very important prayer for the son of the medical assistant who took her life on 10/17/09. He is a teenager and I am calling upon you Lord to wrap your arms around this boy, comfort him and remove this burden from his shoulders. I pray boldly to You for comfort and peace and that he will be fully guided through this significant trial in his life by You. And Lord, I ask that if there is anything I can do, please bring me to that place where I can be helpful and supportive and You can work through me to show this boy that he is not alone and that You exist.
Amen…
A quick prayer request. Someone I work with (whom I mentioned in a prior post) is currently in surgery as I write this. They are resecting what appears to be an oligoendroglioma (a mixed glioma).
Please join me and pray for Steve this morning and beyond. Many of us have walked down this road – pray that he faces this with strength, a strong sense of hope and that his surgery is as successful as it can be and any neurological deficits are minimal.

My mother has just found out that she has a brain tumor. I am not sure how to find information on where to go or who is the best doctor. So my cousin found your blog. I will start reading it. I will say a prayer for you.
Father, I bring before You the preparation of my service on worship help me to listen to your voice and for your will to be done.
Open up eyes, ears, hearts and minds of your people to receive it.
Be with Celia as she works through family difficulties.
I am requesting prayers for my husband Doug who is beginning treatment for a very aggressive tumor. He just had surgery in February where we were told that it was mostly necrosis with little cancer cells and very low mitotic rates. Doctors told us to watch and wait. Well, 2 months later, it looks like it has grown and possibly crossed to the other side. Please pray that he is able to tolerate the new treatment (avastin and ccnu) and that it helps get rid of the cancer. Doug has two little girls. Please pray that we are able to face anything together and accept all news with faith.
Thank You!
Amy,
Many of us here know all too well what you and your husband Doug are going through. Personally, having two young boys myself, I can identify with that aspect of this trial very much and I know its not easy.
Just try to remember that God is in the middle of this every day and every minute regardless of what happens. I personally take solace in knowing and having faith in this.
No one knows why these things happen but they do so I pray for both of you – that you can find rest, comfort, strength and patience during this time. I pray the same for everyone that has been touched by a diagnosis such as this.
Take it one step at a time.
Mark
